PAUREE 29 (Stanza 29)
In this Pauri, Guru Nanak Dev ji describes a ritual performed by Yogis, in which food is prepared, a person is assigned to distribute, and a drum is played to create a ‘holy’ sound while eating. The message is for all, not just for Yogis. Guruji says that like you feed your body every day, you must feed your soul the spiritual food of Divine knowledge, kindness, awareness that God is in every heart, and realization that we get our share what is destined for us and we come and depart from this world by His Will. All the riches and powers seem useless once we realize that we are all His puppets, He is the one holding the strings.

This is a good opportunity to memorize Gurbani, one Pauri at a time. You can concentrate better and enjoy more if you recite bani without looking at the gutka.

ONE SPIRIT, DIFFERENT BODIES

After Guru Nanak Dev ji, none of the Gurus used their names in their writings. They always used the name "Nanak" as if everything was written by Guru Nanak Dev ji. This reinforces our belief that all our Gurus had the same spirit in different bodies. The eternal source of spiritual knowledge that was within Guru Nanak Dev ji was passed on to each Guru and they uttered Gurbani that originated from the same source.)
