PAURI 11(Stanza 11)
This is the fourth and last Pauri, in which each line starts with the word SUNIAE. This Pauri further emphasizes the power of listening to God’s name.(Simran).
 
SUNIAE SARAA GUNAA KE GAAH
By listening to the name of God with love and devotion, a person becomes immensely virtuous.
saraa gunaa: seas of virtues
 
SUNIAE SEKH PEER PATSAAH
By listening to the name of God with love and devotion, a person attains spiritual superiority.
Sekh: scholar, Peer: spiritual leader, Patsaah: king, all signify spiritual superiority
 
SUNIAE ANDHE PAAVEH RAAH
By listening to the name of God with love and devotion, even (spiritually) blind become enlightened and find their way (to salvation).
andhe: blind, implies spiritually ignorant, paaveh: obtain, raah: way
 
SUNIAE HAATH HOVAE ASGAAH
By listening to the name of God with love and devotion, the unattainable becomes easily attainable(literal meaning of “haath hovae asgaah” is “the depth of the sea becomes like an arm’s length”).
haath hovae: becomes hand deep, implies becomes attainable, asgaah: deep sea
 
NANAK BHAGTAAN SADAA VIGAAS
Nanak says, His devotees (person who listens to the name of God with love and devotion), are always in the state of true joy and happiness.
bhagtaa: to His devotees, sadaa: always, vigaas: joy
 
SUNIAE DOOKH PAAP KAA NAAS II11II
By listening to the name of God with love and devotion, all the pains & sorrows, and sins are destroyed.
dookh: pains, sorrow, paap: sins, naas: destroyed

This is a good opportunity to memorize Gurbani, one Pauri at a time. You can concentrate better and enjoy more if you recite bani without looking at the gutka.
