PAUREE 22 (Stanza 22)

In this Pauri, Guru Nanak Dev ji says that God’s Creation is so vast that there are no numbers to count it or no words to describe it. Only He Himself knows how big His Creation is.

There are countless worlds below us and countless above us.

paataal: worlds below us, aagaas: sky, implies worlds above us, lakh: hundred thousand, implies countless

ORAK ORAK BHAAL THAKE VED KAHEN IK VAAT

Many (learned people) failed in their attempts to find the bounds of His Creation, even the Vedas say the same thing (that there is no end to his Creation).

orak: end or limit, bhaal: find, thake: became tired, implies failed , ik vaat: one thing

SAHES ATHAAREH KAHEN KATEBAA ASULU IK DHAAT

The four holy books (of Muslims, Jews, and Christians) say that there are eighteen thousand worlds, and their origin is only one God.

LEKHA HOE TAA LIKHIAE LEKHAE HOE VINAAS

But the truth is that there cannot be a count of God’s Creation, those who try to make an account of His Creation can spend all their life doing so(and die) without success.

lekha: account, likhiae: write, lekha hoe ta likhiae: we can write if there is a count, implies there is no count of His Creation, vinaas: perish or end, lekhae hoe vinaas: perish while doing an account of His Creation
